“Wow! Your home is incredible!’

That, or comments very similar to that, are what we hear from almost everyone as they enter our home here in Reno for the first time.

When we moved to Reno in early 2009, we were referred to a well-known designer. We met with him and started on a few minor things, but it soon became clear things just weren’t clicking between us. He just didn’t ‘get it.’

Purely by chance, we soon discovered Shirley Hart at Plantworks. After learning that she was a respected designer, we invited her to come see our home so she could give us her ideas. Rather than simply telling us what we should do before she could even get to know us, Shirley spent a lot of time asking us questions about our interests, passions and lifestyles. As Kyle is a Certified Financial Planner, that approach struck home, because that is precisely the approach he takes with his clients.

Over the course of the next few months, our home became what we’d dreamed of and more.  Kyle has his office in our home, so it’s important that it look extremely professional. We also are using our home for entertaining officers, volunteers and directors of several well-known and respected state and international conservation organizations on an on-going basis. The reaction to our home from these people has been enormously positive. The ambiance that Shirley has created in our home has thus served to the great benefit of wildlife conservation.

Not long ago we had our realtor and her husband over for wine, appetizers and friendship. Nancy is one of the top realtors in Reno and she was just blown away with the work Shirley had done.

We couldn’t be more pleased with Shirley’s work and we recommend her highly!

We recently finished building a French-style home and our designer suggested we meet with Shirley from Plantworks to get her ideas for plants and floral arrangements. I was not certain this was necessary as, like most people, I figured it wouldn't be that difficult for me to do this myself. Well, was I wrong! The work that Shirley and her team did for our home is simply amazing and far beyond anything I could have ever accomplished or even imagined on my own. She took the time to understand the "look/feel" we wanted, did her own research on our desired style, and artfully customized everything for each and every room, including the exterior courtyard, with either silk/faux or live plants/arrangements. I thought the house was shaping up pretty nicely before Shirley came in, but now that she has added her Plantworks "touch," it is truly a completed canvas -- very warm, inviting, and elegant. And, she was so enthusiastic and fun, it was a quite a joyful experience.

Plantworks also provides ongoing maintenance for the live plants, which is important to me. After taking the time to select all our live plants, not to mention spending money to buy them, having professionals maintain them is critical. I am confident we will be able to enjoy everything for a very long time.
