Plantworks Reno Introduction
General Information
Plantworks Reno is based in Reno, NV and primarily provides live and artificial plants, flowers, and trees for building interiors (“plantscapes”). We have served northern Nevada since 1978. At our clients’ requests, the services offered have expanded over the years to now include indoor live plant supply and maintenance, interiorscape design including live and artificial (“silk”) plant, flower, and tree arrangements, artificial plant cleaning and rehabilitation, weekly cut floral designs, topiaries, containers (“pots”), décor items (statuettes, water features, pedestals, urns, etc.), installation, design consultation, and special event planning. We also supply and install commercial grade Natural Touch interior artificial plants and UV protected Polyblend and TropEx exterior artificial plants and trees upon request. Additionally, Plantworks offers convention plant rentals, corporate Christmas events, and weddings. Customers are both residential and commercial including taxidermists and interior designers. We beautify and maintain shopping malls, restaurants, casinos, medical buildings, hotels, retailers, professional offices, bars, auto dealers, media outlets, resorts, financial institutions, model and private custom homes, etc.
Service Area
Plantworks Reno is based in Reno, NV. and serves the Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fernley, Minden, and Tahoe areas weekly. Plantworks also regularly serves the balance of Northern Nevada as far east as Wendover and Northern California as far west to Sacramento and beyond.
History
Plantworks was started in Reno, NV. in 1978. It began as an interior live plant maintenance service and added artificial (silk) plant and flower display work by the early 1980’s. A Las Vegas branch was opened in 1988. In the early 1990’s, the Plantworks Reno and Las Vegas branches became separate independent companies.
Plant People was started in Reno, NV. in 1982. It specialized in installing and maintaining live plants in homes, offices and casinos. The Growing Concern was a Reno firm acquired by Plant People in the 1980’s. Another Reno firm, Sanford and Associates, was acquired by Plant People in 1991. Sanford provided live plant maintenance and also constructed many of the large (20’+) trees at the Atlantis and Peppermill casinos.
In the mid 1990’s, Plantworks Reno was merged with Plant People. Plantworks Reno served customers as the silk plant division and Plant People was the live plant division. In 2000, Plantworks Plant People moved to it’s present location of 3751 Mill Street, Reno, NV. Plantworks Plant People operated additional retail shops from the late 1980’s through approximately 2002. The Plant People name was gradually phased out and the combined businesses now operate primarily as Plantworks Reno.
Plantworks Reno Key Staff
Shirley Hart – Creative Director/Owner
Shirley has been involved in interiorscape and floral design for about 25 years.
She is experienced in the full spectrum of services offered by Plantworks Reno including special event planning. Shirley oversees all artificial plant sales, design, purchasing, arranging, and installations.
John Barnhart – Manager/Owner
John has a business management background developed over two decades plus in the real estate development and construction industries. His focus is customer service, clear communication, and reliable scheduling. John manages the business office including contracts and systems.
Vicky Ross – Live Plant Manager
Vicky oversees all live plants sales, purchasing, installation, and servicing. She has over 20 years experience in all aspects of the live plant business and specializes in designing to individual interior environmental conditions.
Ted Gray – Installation Foreman
Ted has an extensive construction background including concrete, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry. Ted supervises all shop fabrication and onsite installations.
Angelica Stephens – Silk Cleaning Supervisor
Angie is an accomplished floral designer and installer. Her skills allow her to recreate beautiful designs onsite in new applications and after artificial plant cleaning.
Rita Kerivan – Silk Sales and Design
Rita is a native of London, England with years of experience in floral design. Her artist background is reflected in the beauty of her designs.
Connie Miller – Silk Designer
Connie has 26 plus years of live and silk floral design experience. She provided floral designs for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and now specializes in custom silk designs.
Mellissa Sampson – Cut Floral Designer
Mellissa has a unique gift for creating innovative cut floral designs. She has been providing commercial cut floral arrangements for 5 years.
Bruce Evans – Live Plant Care
Bruce has over two decades of experience in servicing live plants and specializes in organic pest control methods. Bruce now services plants in Reno and Tahoe.
Pam Salinas – Live Plant Care
Pam was born with a green thumb and plants under her care thrive even in difficult environmental conditions. She currently cares for plants in Reno and Fernley.
Scott Wittig – Live Plant Care
Scott has over 12 years live plant maintenance background and his perpetual smile and cheer is greatly appreciated by clients. Scott is maintaining plants in Reno.
Nancy Cochran – Live Plant Care
Nancy has a natural ability to grow indoor plants. She generally services live plants in the Carson City, Minden, and Gardnerville areas.
Katy Wall – An Employee
Kathy Wall is a floral event designer . She is one of the major players on Harts Team . She works very closely with Shirley to over see project detail and ordering of materials . Plantworks is trilled to have Kathy as part of the Plantworks Design. |
